pearl

exams are about 3 weeks away now
and i m sure my friends will tell you
its very unlike me to start worrying
and gasp
study!

but i must must pass
i refuse to fly back early from my holiday
!!

havent caught up with the girls in ages
so went out for dinner on sat
to Pearl restaurant

the weather was just right, not too chilly
so i dug up my old black ruffled skirt from ages and ages ago (1st thing i bought when i came to Melbourne!)and paired it with a Yves saint laurent tuxedo shirt, cuff links which were a 14th birthday present from my dad (LOL), Bally pumps, Ferragmo bag and a Mikimoto pearl necklace.
the outfit was a little bit heavy on the designer factor, but somehow it worked itself out that way!

my secret (ok not so secret anymore) ambition is to become a chef
so i am on a mission to eat at the top restaurants and then steal all their secrets!

MUAHAHA
if you are lazy to read any further, pearl was not bad. 6.5/10?

clare's entree was a tartare of hopkins river beef, beetroot shoots and quail egg yolk and soldiers. think she liked it

hen and her tasmanian pacific oysters from pittwater bay and south australian pacific oysters from coffin bay with mint and green chilli nam jim. the nam jim was delish, but i dunno why there was 2 types of oyster, so confusing

as one of the most expensive entrees in Melbourne, i expected more from the pearl meat. it was kind of disappointing. maybe i overcooked it in the dashi broth? chive buds and enoki were yummy though.

roasted red duck curry and bri had some fish dish: murray cod and abalone?

the highlight of the night was definitely the desserts!
:)

coconut pandan panna cotta, pink guava sorbet, three melon salad and pearl sago and kaffir lime syrup

OMG OMG OMG turkish delight and rose petal ice cream, glace ginger and persian saffron fairy floss. so friken good..

taro dumplings with dark, milk and white valrhona chocolate, vanilla custard and gold leaf

And the sweet treats selection
which we took turns and spent ages guessing what each were
before asking the maitre d
orange blossom marshmallows, saffron fairy floss, black currant jubes, grand marnier truffles and verjuice jellies

i tasted the jelly and guessed it was lime
clare said lemon
bri just said it was sour

and hen said ribena
ribena!!
we argued
and finally the maitre d said it was verjuice
HAHA

it was a great night out, but maybe modern australian cuisine isnt quite for me
service was a little patchy at Pearl too

but i ll go back for dessert soon!
YUM

no idea what chanty thought she was doing

omg all this food talk is making me hungry
shall go downstairs to grab some supper
at midnight
:x

do not judge the hungry!

omg a thought just occured to me which i must share
i got a speeding ticket!
i saw the flash and saw the parked car on the roadside

its my first one!

Don't worry the system is crashing.
So what if your exams are thrashing.
It's sort of life in wartime you know.
Whatever you get, it's good to go.
