shopping

shoot i am having a major guilt trip

i ve been doing so well up to now, resisting major impulse shopping

and being all domestic and buying groceries to eat in

and saving and not going shopping and all that good stuff

then today i got up early

decided to do a bit shopping before my doctor's appointment in the afternoon

(long story, another time)

and then i totally lost the plot from there.

bought a pair of Givenchy shoes and a cheapy pair of leopard heels cause Myer was having a sale

felt guilty as Mum told me not to impulse buy before she left, so returned the Givenchy pair

felt all superior and sanctimonious from there.

then i promptly walked into LV and picked up a scarf

its the same one, but in red and gold.
i dont even like the monogram but the sales lady said it looked good and like a sucker i fell for it

and then I WALKED UP COLLINS ST

@#%^&@#&%$

so now i m the proud owner of a Sonia Rykiel top, Bettina Liano bustier and assorted cheapies. and a misshappen maxi dress because i bought because of a free belt

part of me is all fuzzy, looking at my bags and bags of shopping
(i dont why everyone needs ck, just shop for the rush, seriously)
another part is EATEN UP WITH SHAME AND GUILT
i have no self control
NONE
i promised myself i would not buy anything else as every house is packed to the brim and i am filled with shame when friends come over
but i did it
i lost the plot and my mind and my finger was manically keying in the pin everytime my card was swiped
I BINGE SHOPPED.
its like friggin bulimia, but with credit cards

and half the stuff i buy are going to end up at the Salvation Army again with tags still on them, and my friends are going to give me grief.
one of whom will calculate it in terms of air tickets
' oh Phoon, you ve shopped away a ticket to New York today'.
pause.
'or a ticket to Shanghai'
bollocks.

i cant do this, i have RENT to pay now.
somebody's gonna eat only cabbage as a penance for the rest of the month.

oh and i popped by Subway to eat (!) and picked up a box of chocolates (!!) while shopping!

seriously can this day get any worse?

oh wait
i received notification that my appeal for the parking fine has been denied
and i lost my birkin lock
and parents are uncontactable in some corner of the world

great.
dies.

post shopping shame attack anyone?

i feel like this

growing up sucks.

p.s yes i am well aware this is my own fault, but i ve had a bad day so i would like to whinge unashamedly, thank you v much

MSFW

Melbourne Spring Fashion week is over!
Had great fun, was an insanely busy time as the dental ball was just round the corner.

thats over now of course, but man, that was a hectic few weeks!

A quick recap of the events

Attended Fashion Escalation at Collins 234, standouts for me were the Braun Buffel accessories and La Bella Donna dresses. Not a long show at all, but i guess i understand the technical difficulties of takng photographs of models on moving escalators! Can see the article here

http://stylemelbourne.com/2010/09/fashion-escalation-2/

Also attended the Girls' Day Out event, to watch the Makybe stakes
was sent a lovely ticket for the VIP area in the fashion marquee
there were magnums of Krug on the tables
and i was given Bobbi Brown makeup and Voodoo legwear
which more than made up for me losing on the favourite.
Dont mind admitting this, i m not a huge follower of the races
i usually just put money on the favorite or a horse whose name i like, haha.

didnt bother stepping out of the marquee to watch, was too cold and rainy! All the usuals were present at the event,

the ambassadors
the WAGS and also a couple of footballers.

they had the best desserts, my favourite were these baby sorbet cones!

And to keep in the spring races theme, also attended the Caufield Races launch party.

was held in the Peninsula, and that, my friends, was a party i never wanted to leave. you ll see why in a second. the place was made up in an incredible fashion.

just occured to me i shouldnt give too much detail in case i ever want to throw something similar! hee hee

Gorgeous isnt it?

the Caufield cup
Roving mannequins on the night

event was sponsored by BMW so there were a few Beemers around as well.

Reasons why i didnt want to leave.

1. S Pacific oyster bar.
2. Freshly made mini pancake bar with fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce

3. Event was partly sponsored by Schweppes, so there were Agrum cocktails aplenty. If you look closely, the bartender is scorching the lemon rind before dropping it into the martini glass. Picked up something new for my party repertoire!

Also attended Fashion Revealed, was helping backstage with Sleep Couture.

Fashion Revealed was fun though, and i ll share our little secret

the 2 most important things backstage?

Lindt macaroons and our running sheet hahah

till next time! will update on dent ball and med ball soon, flying to Bris tomorrow for a competition.

Wish me luck!

love.

peter a

Covered the Peter Alexander show for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week
was stuck behind two incredibly tall photographers
and had to tiptoe and stick my arm out holding my heavy DSLR to capture the images
which unfortunately resulted in some unfortunate shots

like this

and this

and this

hahaha! its really all for ones self though, best spot wins!

i LOVED the vegemite PJs

And i couldnt help from laughing aloud when Peter A came out to take his bow flanked by the Bananas in Pyjamas!

Much more coming up soon, races tomorrow and the Fashion Revealed at night!

smalllust

Attended my first few events today for the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week
Photos up soon, but wow, i forgot what a kick it was!
Wait till you see what Ruby Rose wore.

Was wandering around City Square waiting for my next event to start
when I was asked to have my shot taken for a street style segment.
What a compliment!

i wore a oversized Bonds tank as a dress, oilve green leggings, Clarks booties and a navy Ungaro blazer. My bag was from Morissey, and ring was a gift from Mum when she visited from Singapore on Sunday. My hair was kindly done by Falcone hairdressing and makeup, from Bri's place. Was in a rush this morning so i was blindly grabbing her makeup from the bathroom and rubbing it on. Literally!

Also went out on Saturday night as it was Yurika's last night here in Melbourne
Wish she visited for longer, had a lot of fun hanging out with everyone.

Have also discovered a love for board games.
Was desperate to continue playing after last night's Pictionary bonanza
but going to go cram for my cons exam for tomorrow morning instead

love!

maze

Had dinner at Maze last night
was really looking forward to it, as due to a series of unfortunate events I hadnt been able to eat at Maze yet, and i hadnt seen my friends in ages!

Night got off to a good start. Service was good, had an attentive Korean waiter (Lee, totally your type)
and i fell in love with the herby salted whipped butter for the bread.

We all had the degustation, and cause Jou and I wanted to get back early we requested it to be speedy, and it was!

I didnt bring my camera, so ripped these photos off the website.

I had

Marinated beetroot with goats curd,
cabernet sauvignon vinaigrette, toasted pine nuts

Applewood smoked kingfish,
fennel purée, pickled celery,
globe artichoke, finger limes- this was good. Miles better than the yellowfin tuna!

Pan seared scallop,
caramelised kelp, samphire, mussels,
Champagne - as in picture. Good, but couldnt identify which part was champange

A quail dish- wasnt very good. A little tasteless unfortunately, though it was tender.

Ox “tongue and cheek”,
caper and raisin, carrots,
horseradish pomme purée- as in photo: not a beef person, but Nick loved it. Horseradish mash was superb.

Exotic fruit vacherin,
passion fruit and banana sorbet- as in picture: this was terrible. Sorbet has a Vicks vapour rub aftertaste. Couldnt finish it!

maze “lamington”, rosella jam- as in picture: YUM. loose interpretation of lamington, but the coconut covered chocolate ganache, coconut icecream, sponge, coconut biscuit was a winner in my books.

Were given lolly bags at the end and some strawberry chocolate covered icecreams, was a nice surprise.

Food was a little hit and miss, was underwhelmed. But general consensus was it was better than Attica or Fifteen, and the service (and lolly bag) really does go a long way towards the dining experience!

And look!

my new place for now :D

GOR

When Lee was here, we went on a Great Ocean Road tour.
Super fun, but our driver was shocking, i needed some Travacalm eventually.

HAHAH, because Chanty couldnt make it, i substituted her with the koala.

Highlight of the trip? Helicopter! HelicopterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRR. okay i was trying to inject some onomatopoeia to sound like one. RRRRRRRRRRRRRrRRR

So gorgeous and perfect weather for it!

Took a lot of nice photos too, was constantly snapping away.

At some shipwreck cove thingy.

Leezers and I have a vehement talk where i was calling her ' a big chicken LOR ' while she argued something about having no space to lie down while Bri waited patiently with the camera.

Very pretty wasnt it?

Am really suffering from the lack of my camera now.

I have a terrible memory, i started taking photos and blogging so i could recall things years down the track

now that i ve left my camera at my parent's place, i feel uneasy without it.

Went for dinner with Bri and Hen at the Brasserie on the weekend. Dont even remember what i had! Some meat i remember some Also watched a movie. Karate kid? Hen has hugged Jackie Chan! But dont remeber much, Oh right we went to Sorry Grandma to club.

See, i need photos!!! Hazy memories!

BFFs

been on a bit of a hiatus lately, cause things have been incredibly crazy.
moved into a new place in the city
(hooray no more early morning commute!)

i would have never guessed packing and moving to a new place, setting up internet, unpacking and getting comfortable, and all that PAPERWORK would be so exhausting.

totally worth it though, i m literally a two minute walk away from the dental hospital
room is like a little shoe box
but its quite cosy and starting to grow on me.
surprisingly peaceful too, and quiet.

have some photos from when Lee and Clare were here
an insane amount were taken!
i made little composites as mentioned previously, so here they are!

Money Order office. Coincidence, but grey scarves seem to be the way to go. We all had one! Booked the private dining area, behind the drinks bar. I had the salted duck breast, duck leg terrine, polenta, wilted baby bok choy portabello mushroom & harissa butter for my main. Now that the Brasserie has gone downhill (will be closing down in Feb ahhh!) this is my favourite duck dish. Lee and Clare had the cepe & porcini mushroom risotto, eggplant & vine ripened cherry tomatoes, swiss browns, broad bean & herb puree, heard it wasnt bad either. Ah MOO. I like!

Melbourne Supper Club. Spent hours and hours there just sitting around and chatting, ordered an insane amount of stuff. Even doubled up on their cheese platters as the first wasnt enough. The thing is with MSC, once you get a good seat, you wont want to leave for ages

Bistro Vue- my favourite oysters, Bri's love: the tarte tartin and a quail and foie gras pithivier. Creme brulee, chocolate souffle and i think we pretty much ordered everything on the dessert menu!

Hwaro for korean bbq. Lee's 'hansum oppa'. Yi goes there a crazy amount of times, but at least we get free stuff out of it! ;) lemon soju is tasty, just like a soft drink but sneakily lethal.

Henny's birthday dinner at Dundas and Faussett in Albert Park. Felt like a New Yorker, running out of the dental hospital in the rain to snatch a yellow taxi and carrying a million bags ( dont know why i had so much stuff that day, i meant to carry light, honest!)

Madame Brussels- astroturf, waiters in Fred perry and tennis whites. Fondue was pretty bad, as were some cocktails, but very pretty place and a view. They give out fluoro pink match sticks!

Hanging out at one of the little cafes along Degraves

We ve been into Titanic since young, so visited the museum exhibit. Loved it! Was slightly tragic that we pretty much knew the information given out and recognised a lot of the names, but i guess we were really into it! Also did a quick scan of the other exhibits, stuffed animals creep me out.

Went to the National Gallery of Victoria, closed on tuesdays, i had no idea! So pottered around the puzzle house for a bit before going for tea.

Had tea at my place. Lee and Bri, are the passionfruit cupcakes calling out to you??!

Day trip up to Mt Dandenong. Stuffed ourselves at Miss Marples, shopped at the tea shop, picked up some oilve oilve- (Kalaparee oilve oil is incredible, once you ve had some of the garlic infused you ll never look back i promise) and were frozen solid at the peak! GPS took us by the creepiest, darkest, most undeveloped way down the mountain possible, was worried i would drive off the side, but we made it ;)

lol

Driving around Rye, went up to Arthur's Seat, to the Gunnamatta horse trails (raining so plan failed!) and to the strawberry fields. Had dinner at Pacific House after, Yi ordered an eggy fried chicken which is off the menu so you have to ask for it, but it was GOOD.

Visited the Montalto Olive festival! LOVED it, we sat on bales of hay listening to the band play while sampling wines and oilve oils. Wanted to photograph the animals in the petting zoo but they were put away really early! At least io got the duck.

awww. BFFs.
