dent ball
had the Grand Dental Ball a couple of days ago
was Cluedo themed, 1920s Dressed to Kill
brilliant theme, been wanting one like this ever since i watched the Great Gatsby a few years ago.
misplaced my camera at some point in the night so ripped these photos off various people on facebook
not too upset about camera because i was always complaining about it,
plus its from Seattle so the person who has it will not be able to use it for long as i have the charger (HAH!)
but it was a present from my uncle and now, i ll never see the photos i took.
sigh.
Another thing to add onto my to-buy list.
wore long black gloves, Ferragamo black patent pumps, YSL jewellery and clutch, a ring Kat made and a Sportsgirl vest. Made the dress myself from raw silk material my grandmother gave me last year
(woke up this morning feeling very disgruntled as i just remembered i meant to wear my gold Pucci shoes i bought to pair with the dress, but forgot all about it.)
i m growing old, have the memory of a fish.
was a great night, i m glad i went after all
minor wardrobe crisis before hand almost precipitated my no-show
heehehe, but it was the bomb.
in fact it was so bomb it was atomic.
if i ever manage to successfully diet and reach 49.8 kgs i want this Jill Sander piece.
imagine it paired with a white shirt, and red lipstick
hot!
its like i have a genetic predisposition to be chubby
actually
i do.
damn you, forefathers!
or maybe not since i was just told cousin XX is skinny like a beanpole.
welcome to my shame attack episode.
someone i know has bought a private plane.
urgh.
and gotten rhinoplasty.
and has such an amazing collection of Louboutins i DIE. a piece of clothing from EVERY pucci collection. an ivy league education.
not all the same person, but in combination i feel smalllll
and something about moving $$ into a high interest account blah blah
and charity gala dinners with amazing party planners they could just get without waitlisting
.....
booger booger boogerrrr
today's so not a good day, i feel extraordinarily dysfunctional.
need someone to pass me their prescriptions for ambien
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ;)
going to finish reading my new book on gourmet cooking
charlie trotter is brilliant!
wow that was a wild mood swing
i might just go sit down
excuse me.

jacques reymond
had dinner last night at Jacques Reymond with Wyn and co
followed my GPS navigation down and was surprised it was so close to Lauriston!
yup, that fact had absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant review,
i was just amazed it took me so long to realise
phoon = geography fail
had the degustation
8 courses including desserts, but no accompanying wines because i drove
(but almost off my P plates, thank god!)
http://www.jacquesreymond.com.au/documents/JacquesReymondsmenu2009..pdf
didnt take that many photos, but here are the few i did take
Hiramasa kingfish and ponzu, Hervey Bay scallop, spiced nougatine with peanuts, warm leek and chilli gherkin dressing
Wagyu beef rump, oyster sauce and condiments, ravioli of daikon and spicy celery, mustard ice cream. Paid extra for the fresh truffles pictured, we were lucky they had them and it really made the dish for me. was my favourite of the night. tender and complex, just wish mustard was spicier!
Martini of bittersweet chocolate, whisky and espresso granita, bourbon vanilla chantilly
regret not having the white chocolate crème brulée, mild spice cacao sorbet, milk chocolate millefeuilles, dark chocolate soufflé like everyone else (picture above!), mostly because although the earl grey and orange tea icecream with pear dessert i did get was good, it wasnt great. i wanted a chocolately high!
yeah, doesnt look as good does it?
petit fours
camera shyyyy!
bb addict
Sat at a table facing the courtyard,
was much better than the tables in the other rooms
had a pleasant view, and since its spring,
flowers were in full bloom
pretty
haha
Cart gave the place a 7 out of 10, and i agree
not that great considering the prices were more in the 8-9/10 range
($950 between the 5 of us if you were wondering)
but its such a popular restaurant i guess they must be doing something right
probably wont go back anytime soon, but when they change the menu it probably will be worth another shot!

Today is the last day of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week
which is easily one of my favourite weeks in any given year
Spring fashion is just so pretty!
The first event i covered for StyleMelbourne was a bit of a special one.
(must inject here, StyleMelbourne was in the MX paper on friday!)
Was at Fashion Exposed at Melbourne Exhibition Centre
for two reasons.
to watch the Debut collection runway
and also help out at Sleep Couture's shop, yes we had a stall!
:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Debut collection was awe-inspiring, the designers were so talented and spot on with the trends Aussie fashion is moving into.
Marion Liese had the best sensual, slinky slips
http://www.marionliese.com/
and Ellen Bartels jewellery was chunky and eye-catching, just the way i like it.
http://www.ellenbartels.com/
sabio designs, eternal safari and sebestian's sister and tara badcock were all so creative!
i ve got a lot of respect for these designers, and really hope they go far.
such a different vibe from attending runway shows from established companies,
i really enjoyed it.
unfortunately no photos yet as our photographer bailed, but i ll post a link when the article is up!
i took one photo of the Intimates runway that i really liked
or rather, i liked the corset
pretty, no?
the next event was Fine Food and Frocks, held at Grossi Florentino
(love the rabbit terrine)
many famous faces in attendance,
but notably for me, Guy Grossi and Leona Edminston
he was so affable in the interview!
got taken around the kitchen, which was fun
i am inspired to open my own restaurant
and of course Leona E's dresses were beautiful as always, but very white girl.
Trend forecast, clear perspex and sequins on sheer mesh!
see the article and more pics here: http://stylemelbourne.com/2009/09/fine-food-fine-frocks/
On thursday, attended 2 more events.
Would have been three, but we gave up on getting into the one at Adelphi hotel as the line was too long!
Forever New runway was first, showing their new collection Glamazon.
Unfortuntely was a bit late due to Velmix mishap
(stupid stupid dentures)
Was all flustered, but the owner of Forever New was gracious
pics later!
Fokus's alley cat party at Centre Place was interesting
maybe it was Hen's company or the mulled wine or the pieces in store
but i walked away slightly lightheaded convinced i needed new sunglasses and the amazing heavy silver ring with is worn over two fingers and a leather bag printed with a map of Melbourne.
or maybe not, as i m still convinced i want them.
same deal with the piccas, will post link later!
wore a Bonds tank, Bisonte shorts, David Jones cardi, tricolour Saba scarf, leggings and Ferragamo loafers. not very MSFW i know, but i m in the midst of clearing out my wardrobe and i cant find anything!
:)

sc runway
wow its been ages since i ve updated! much apologies, its been a hectic time.
there is probably too much to update in one post, but no matter, its a lazy sunday afternoon and i have all the time in the world.
sort of anyway, i have a test tomorrow
but as usual this looks FAR more appealing than gingival swellings and something-omas.
dont get me wrong, i like dentistry
especially the clinical aspects,
its the route learning and memorisation work that drives me nutso. DRY DRY DRY.
so anyway, we had our first runway show!
it was at Lavish Waterwark on 22nd Aug
many thanks to those who came down to support us
it was such an adrenaline rush, getting models out on cue in their right outfits,
while touching up hair and make up
it was MAD behind stage, but so much fun.
everyone involved, from models to hair and makeup to stylist to camera crew were awesome, big big thanks for making the show great!
and of course, Hen Lau, owner of Sleep Couture
Congrats dear!
<3
Kat and Kevin from Karsahair salon did the most amazing hair and makeup
look closely at the feathers on the eyelids
spotted ones! and the winged eyeshadow!
how cool is that!
inspired to follow suite for Dental Ball coming up soon
haha, it ll either be crazy lady or hot stuff. we ll see!

went to Il Bacaro for lunch a few days after
i recently picked up a copy of the Age Good Food Guide and Gourmet Travellers 2010 restaurant guide
and I M OBSESSED.
to the point where i know restaurant phone numbers, opening times, ratings and addresses off by heart. yikes.
Bri has called me 'crazy food guide lady' but haha, its so worth it.
you know how 'rich and skinny' is socially accepted to be the ideal
i seem to be going towards 'fat and poor' instead.
...
Anyway, Il Bacaro, one chef's hat if you were wondering
was gooooooooooddd
mains were slightly hit and miss, and the butter for my bread was underwhelming
but the entree and dessert made up for it.
might be my favourite Italian restaurant in Melbourne
sorry for the blurry photographs btw, my camera is on its last legs
Pacific bay oysters and cucumber granita
wagyu carpaccio YUM. must get this!
Prawn, pea and saffron risotto
hazelnut and chocolate pudding, and behind is a lavender pannacotta with honeycomb.
I love lavender anything. so this panna cotta was delicious, and the homemade honeycomb suited the creamy texture right down to a T, but everyone else described it as 'opening your mouth and walking into a toilet'. hmm. maybe for lavender lovers only?
Partial as i am to lavender, this dessert was THE BOMB. lightly press the sugar sprinkled outsides and the pudding erupts, spilling out warm decadent molten chocolate, with whole bits of hazelnuts. Have that with the marscapone ice cream, and then have a taste of the kumquat jam to finish off. What a work of contrasts. HEAVEN.
k i m off for lunch now, be back later to continue updating.
p.s WAGAMAMA FAILS. i dont understand why it is so popular. its BAD.
